Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
We believe it's important to contribute to a better living environment. That’s why we invest in projects both locally and globally. With our CSR policy, we aim to make sustainable energy accessible to everyone.

Recycle your solar modules
Libra Energy is a member of the OPEN Foundation (Organisation for Producer Responsibility for E-waste Netherlands). On behalf of over 3,500 producers of electrical equipment in the Netherlands, the OPEN Foundation is responsible for the collection and recycling of e-waste. Its goal is to achieve the legal collection target of 65% and to make e-waste fully circular. To do so, it works closely with collection, sorting and recycling partners. From now on, the policy on producer responsibility will be determined by the OPEN Foundation (formerly Weee Nederland).
WEEE stands for Waste of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (European Directive) and provides guidance on European producer responsibilities. In the Netherlands, it acts as the executive organisation on behalf of the OPEN Foundation. Since early 2021, Weee Nederland and the OPEN Foundation have closely collaborated, and as of 1 March 2021, all participants of Weee Nederland have automatically become members of the OPEN Foundation.
The Solar Energy Recycling Netherlands Foundation (ZRN) represents the interests of producers and importers within the OPEN Foundation in fulfilling their legal recycling obligations. Libra Energy is affiliated with ZRN to actively contribute to its policy goals.
CO₂ Performance Ladder
At the end of 2012, we began the process of having our CO₂ policy assessed by TÜV: the so-called CO₂ Performance Ladder. In this process, we achieved level 3 out of 5. That’s a solid result for a trading company where 90% of emissions are beyond our direct control. Our efforts have been certified by TÜV. Our goal is to keep improving year after year as part of our CSR policy and to reduce emissions as much as possible within our scope.
Libra Energy B.V. participates in various sustainable climate projects, such as co-investing in a wind farm in India, in collaboration with the Climate Neutral Group. Financing these projects in developing countries helps improve the energy infrastructure and living conditions of the local population. Through its involvement in this project, Libra Energy B.V. fully offsets its CO₂ emissions at level 3 (scope 1 and 2). By participating in the CO₂ Performance Ladder, we are actively working to reduce our carbon footprint.
