P1MB Modbus module

It is becoming increasingly important to monitor and manage the various energy flows in a building. This is often done using a standard protocol like Modbus and independently branded devices. Being able to monitor all these energy flows through a single portal is particularly important for the building management systems of commercial and residential complexes where several systems come together. Our partner Xemex has created the ideal solution for incorporating the data from the smart meters with the P1: the P1 to Modbus converter. This P1MB shares the P1 values with the Modbus registers via RS485.

The P1MB is compatible with DIN rails (dimensions 90 x 18 x 65mm) and can be connected to the P1 port of the smart meter in accordance with DSRM4 or SMR5 specifications (applicable in the Netherlands and Belgium). A cable with RJ11 connectors at each end connects the module to the meter. The Modbus is connected via three wires to the RS485 (A(+), B(-) and S) in the form of a ‘slave’ to the Modbus ‘master’. The device is powered through the P1 port of the smart meter. It can also be connected to an external power supply.
